Do you live with Duke Nukem Disease?

Posted under Videos by admin on Monday 13 July 2009 at 9:11 AM

This isn’t directly related to Nintendo or anything, but I thought I would post this as it’s just too funny not to. Ever noticed the swaying motion of a gun in a first person shooter game? You know, the unnatural motion of how a gun sways to and fro while walking. If you’ve played any type of FPS then I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.

Duke Nukem was the first ever FPS game out there, so it’s a no-brainer that they would name this Duke Nukem Disease. You have to watch this video!

Megan Fox on Video Games and the Nintendo Wii

Megan Fox in Transformers

Earlier, I had posted about Shia Labeouf bashing the Wii, now, there’s another Transformers star who has mentioned the Nintendo Wii in an interview. If the picture or post title didn’t give away who it is, let’s say the person sounds much more adept and intelligent towards gaming, and is someone who’s picture I enjoyed putting on the site. Of course, I enjoy the picture more for the car as I’m a huge Camaro fan. In fact, the new Camaro in the movie is downright sweet!

Anyway, the star is Megan Fox. Megan was interviewed by WhatTheyPlay, and after reading the interview I hold a new found respect for the actress.

Shia Labeouf DISSES The Nintendo Wii

Posted under Nintendo Wii, Video Games, Wii News by admin on Monday 22 June 2009 at 5:29 PM

Shia Labeouf

Shia Labeouf was interviewed by Big Download. In the interview he talks about his history with gaming.

I’ve been a fan of Labeouf ever since Even Stevens. However, this interview just goes to show how arrogant the actor really is. Seriously, who is he kidding?

Here are a few quotes I picked out from the interview that any Nintendo Wii fan should find amusing…

(BD) – What’s the last game that really impressed you?

(Shia) – Sid Meier’s Civilization.

(BD) – You play everything including real-time strategy?

(Shia) – Buddy, I’m a gamer. Not just the fake ones you read about.

(BD) – Have you checked out the Wii Transformers game?

(Shia) – I haven’t been able to play the Wii game because my hand is broken. I’ve just been playing Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I would imagine that the Wii experience will be like… I don’t mess with the Wii, to be honest with you. It’s kind of an amateur console. I’m not into the Wii thing.

(BD) – What’s wrong with the Wii?

(Shia) – This is how in a simple way you can find out if it’s a gamer you want to play with. Ask them if they have a Wii. If they say yes, get the f*** out of there.

I don’t think Shia would know what a real gamer looked like if he had one staring him in the face. Notice how he uses his hand as an excuse to not play the Wii, but he has no problem playing the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3.

The Effect Of Gaming On Young Children

Posted under Video Games by admin on Tuesday 16 June 2009 at 3:33 AM

A lot of parents feel that video gaming is a bad thing for children. They say they spend too much indoors doing nothing, that it rots their brain, that it stunts their mental growth. You see all the negatives of video games played out in the media. They blame everything wrong with an abnormal kid with tons of underlying problems solely on the effect of video games. None of that is fair at all. Nothing could be further from the truth (ok, except maybe the staying inside part, but hey, there are worse things). I’m sure that in reality you don’t really think someone who hauls off and shoots their classmates is really the way they are because they decided to play a video game, do you? Video games just really aren’t that bad for kids.

Why Choose The Nintendo Wii Over Other Video Game Consoles?

Posted under Nintendo Wii, Video Games by admin on Friday 22 May 2009 at 9:47 PM

Nintendo Wii

Many people believe that the current generation of consoles provides the most evenly matched competition from the products released by the big entertainment companies in the history of video games. The disparity in terms of processing power and depth of game libraries isn’t that big when it comes to the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. And though the Nintendo Wii is gravely trailing in the graphics and processing power departments, it more than makes up for its shortcomings by giving gamers a unique experience they will never find anywhere else.

And gamers have made a decision. As of this writing, almost 3 years worth of sales data reveal that the Nintendo Wii is outselling the Xbox 360 and the PS3 combined.

The list is compiled on the factors on how much is known about the game, how incredible it looks the current user reviews, and the following big boys made it on the top 10 most anticipated games of 2009.

(10) Bioshock 2 : Sea of Dreams – The Original Bioshock was a runaway success, jaw dropping visuals, never before seen water effects mingled with excellent gameplay and that 60’s dystopian feeling.. It was everything that left us wanting for more and 2K games mean it. Thankfully Bioshock 2 Sea of Dreams is destined to launch this year.

(9) Street Fighter 4 – Capcom proved its focal point in gaming by launching this highly awaited game. SF4 won accolades for its tight controls, great visuals and easy to pickup but uncanny gameplay. Capcom’s celebrated brawler is back in the business after 10 long years and its back with a blast.

(8) StarCraft 2 : Wings of Liberty – It has been almost a decade when StarCraft was released. The original is still one of the most loved RTS games, with massive campaigns. We are sure that StarCraft will be released this year in 2009, but what we were not expecting was that Blizzard entertainment will be releasing it in Episodes like that of Half Life.. *sigh*

(7) Madworld – Madworld is a gorefest in black and white, for Nintendo Wii. The game has raised quite a lot of brows due to its violence (read fun factor) and this has put this game in the must play category. Platinum Games and Sega are tuning up its play factor and trust me, its over the top in every conceivable way. This game is a must buy for Wii gamers .

Bayonetta will tell the story of the eponymous witch, Bayonetta, who has guns on her feet and hands, blowing off the heads of monsters masquerading as angels. Seeing what the teaser made us saw,we do hope to get some kick-ass action.

(4) Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves – Nathan Drake returns in the upcoming sequel to the Uncharted which promises new gameplay mechanics, highly interactive environments, more nasty and competitive AI and will be exploring the darker side of the protagonist. This entry will follow the adventures of Nathan as he uncovers the mysteries behind 13th-century explorer, Marco Polo, and the ships that he “lost” while returning home to Italy. With talented developers to helm at Naughty Dog we are sure it will turn a lot of heads.

(3) Resident Evil 5 – Capcom’s long running survival horror game series needs no introduction.. Resident Evil 4 revived the dying series and redefined the survival horror genre. However RE5 returns with Chris Redfield and arch nemesis Wesker to explore the roots of virus. A new character Shaiva Alomar will be aiding Chris in his quest. We have seen so much of Resident Evil 5 that it has dropped in our list, but make no mistake, its a game to die for.. period. The game will be released worldwide on 13 March this year.

(2) Call of Duty 5 – We know its gonna be announced this year, we know its going to be awesome, Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty 4 modern Warfare was one of the best games of 2007, and Infinty Ward will make a comeback with Call of Duty 5 in 2009.

Rikusaki Gamer’s Review: Dead Space Wii

Posted under Video Games, Wii Game Reviews by admin on Wednesday 15 April 2009 at 1:48 AM

This is a review by rikusaki member, Zanimato.

Introduction: This game is not hard , this games fails at being scary completely, this game has the most basic and somewhat annoying predictable mission objectives, this game has almost no in-game story, it just like Final Fantasy 7 had all of the story in the back story, this game, despite all of what I just said which is all 100% completely true, is still a great game.

The game plays extremely well, somewhat like Resident Evil 4 with the way the guns handle and the over-the-shoulder camera, speaking of the guns, some of them (the Ripper) are so un-realistic and even funny to look at at first glance it just makes those guns all the better.

By “predictable mission objectives” I mean that you’ll get a mission like “go here and get the key to unlock the room to do the thing with the other thing” will turn into something like “go here move the thing with the other thing that you need to go find to get the key to go into the hallway before the room you need to unlock as the hallway collapses so go get the other thing to unlock the other door which leads to the alternate route to the first door blah annoying System Shock 2 bull” and this game does feel similar to System Shock 2, at least it’s not a complete ripoff with no differences what-so-ever other than name changes like one game I know of *cough* Bioshock *cough*

Gamefly G-Box Allows Students To Rent Video Games On Campus

Posted under Video Games by admin on Tuesday 14 April 2009 at 8:32 PM

Students who want to try a recently released video game without buying the whole kit and caboodle before knowing what it is like need not travel to Blockbuster.

GameFly, an online video game rental service, launched its G-Box Kiosk on Wednesday in the Barnes & Noble campus bookstore located in the Student Union Building – the first of its kind at colleges and universities across the nation.

“The kiosk program is a way to extend the GameFly universe into the physical world,” said Sean Spector, co-founder and senior vice president of business development and content for GameFly.

The kiosk, a machine where video games can be rented, allows people to walk up and browse games by genre, click to choose one, swipe a card, and walk away with a newly-released game, he said. Each machine holds several hundred games and the number of games available will grow in the future.
