Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story Nintendo DS Press Conference Impressions

SuperBlipsBros: vote it up!

We take a brief look in Bowser’s belly for Mario latest role-playing game adventure.

Mario & Luigi have teamed up for two role-playing games already in the form of cooperative adventures that forced the two brothers to string their attacks together to defeat the forces of evil. Their latest adventure is coming to the Nintendo DS and has them fighting a familiar enemy in a very odd location. Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story has the plucky duo getting inhaled by the hungry lizard and trying to find a pleasant way to extricate themselves from their mortal enemy while doing battle with an array of odd creatures crawling around his insides. This game has already been released in Japan, but it will hit Europe and North America this fall.

The trailer Nintendo showed off today during its press conference looked familiar for anyone who has played the previous two games in the series. The combat looks to be as fast as it was before, mixing turn-based strategy with real-time movement. Players will have to time their button presses to deal more damage when on offense and avoid attacks while on defense. Also, you’re still able to combine your powers for one big super brothers’ attack.

It looks as though the action will take place primarily on the bottom screen, where you navigate Mario and Luigi around Bowser’s innards, while Bowser himself is on the top screen. He doesn’t seem to like that his greatest foes are so close to his precious organs, so he inhales more creatures to try to finish you off before you do irreparable damage. The trailer showed Bowser eating an enemy and the brothers being forced to fight that same enemy moments later.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t any more information released on the game. It will be playable during E3, though, so check back for more information once we get our hands on Mario’s latest adventure.
