Grand Slam Tennis Wii Gameplay
EA is one of the companies that have come out in full support of Wii Motion Plus. Of course, this could have something to do with them owning the rights to the Tiger Woods franchise, as well as a little title called Fight Night. Now, there has been no word on Fight Night Round 4 coming to the Wii but, would it really be a stretch? Could they be testing the waters with Tiger 10 and the up-coming Grand Slam Tennis? I sure hope that they are but, I digress. This post isn’t to speculate on what game should or should not be coming to the Wii, this is about a game that IS coming to the Wii. Grand Slam Tennis was first announced at the Games Convention in Leipzig last August. They announced that it would be a Wii only title and specifically developed to capitalize on the advantages of the console and it’s upcoming Wii Motion Plus (WMP) peripheral.

Since then, and especially in the last month or so, we have been treated to fairly regular updates and news on the game. We know the player list will include Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, The Williams Sisters, Pete Sampras, and the unconquerable John McEnroe. Yes, I am serious. Everything I’ve read has said the game plays on par with Tiger 10 using WMP–spin your Wiimote and the player spins his racket, swing upwards and the shot will go up, etc.–which is amazing news as tennis definitely fits the mold of what the Wii could do best. We’ve also been given another tasty tidbit from EA, a firm release date of June 16. That date is not only true for Grand Slam Tennis, but for Tiger 10 as well. All this adds up to us playing what could perhaps be the greatest controlling games, and most realistic ones, ever made. These are truly exciting days ahead! IGN posted up a direct feed gameplay video of Grand Slam Tennis, and I’m sharing it with you below… Enjoy!
