Dead Space Extraction Nintendo Wii Updated Impressions

We head deeper into the USG Ishimura in our latest hands-on look at EA’s Wii-exclusive sci-fi horror game.

The bad news only gets worse for the USG Ishimura in the upcoming Wii-exclusive Dead Space Extraction from EA’s Visceral Games development studio. This platform-exclusive survival horror game functions as both a prequel and side story to the acclaimed Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 original. We’ve seen the game a number of times so far (most recently, at GamesCom 2009), and yesterday, EA dropped by with an updated build of the game to show off a new level and give GameSpot an exclusive peek at the first boss in the game.

Dead Space: Extraction Nintendo Wii Impressions

We get another look at the upcoming Wii-exclusive sequel to Dead Space.

Touting its third-party collaborations, Nintendo used this morning’s E3 conference to talk more about three of its upcoming Wii titles: Sega’s The Conduit, Capcom’s Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and EA’s Dead Space Extraction. Unfortunately, Nintendo said nothing new about the latter, save for airing a very short trailer.

GDC 2009: Duke Nukem Trilogy: Critical Mass DS Preview

Posted under DS Game Previews

Duke is back. For real! This time on the PSP and DS with Critical Mass.

Believe it or not, there will be at least two Duke Nukem games coming out this year, not counting the perennially delayed Duke Nukem Forever. Apogee Software–which is now a completely separate entity from 3D Realms–has PSP and Nintendo DS adventures lined up for the tough-as-granite game icon, and we managed to get some hands-on time with both today.

Duke Nukem Trilogy: Critical Mass is the first of three planned games for the DS and PSP, and though they may share the same name and some story details, the two are completely different beasts. Although we know only a little of the story so far, we do know that Duke somehow finds himself responsible for the destruction of the entire world (with a little help from aliens, of course). The misogynistic tough guy now has to set things right, travelling back and forth in time throughout the course of his three new game adventures in an effort to foil the evil aliens’ plans.

The Conduit Wii Preview

IGN recently sat down with one of the games producers and its creative officer. The interview doesn’t really give us anything new but elaborates on some things people may be curious about. The Conduit places you in the well trained shoes of secret service Agent Ford. The man is your typical clean cut order following American, just the sort of man The Trust could use. The Trust is the shadow government behind our own. Not very much is known about The Trust, other than they have been playing puppet master for quite some time. If you are a conspiracy theorist, think of The Trust as the Illuminati. They are the ones who are truly running the show. The deeper into the game you delve, the more secrets about The Trust that Agent Ford will uncover.

EA Announces Dead Space coming to the Wii

Wii will get anti-gravity alien killing!

Wii will get anti-gravity alien killing!

Dead Space looks scary. It also looks hard. So far it has been a highly praised game for the 360 and PS3. A game that pushed the boundaries of graphics and gameplay. I have even heard it called Bioshock in space. The game was one of those that us Wii owners looked at and said, we’ll never get that. Well, we were dead wrong.

EA’s CEO mentioned in an earnings call that Dead Space Wii was on the way. According to IGN it will be an original take on the game with emphasis on the Wii controls. Not only that, but he offered up this gem of amazing news as well, “We’re bringing core intellectual property to the Wii,” Riccitiello said. “Wii is the market leader — they’re getting half of our emphasis in terms of title count.” Yes, half of their emphasis. Hopefully the era of the Wii being a child’s plaything is coming to an end.
