Grand Theft Auto Coming To The Nintendo Wii?

Posted under Wii News

The huge franchise Grand Theft Auto has been released onto every major console out there, including the Nintendo DS with the release of Chinatown Wars. However, GTA has yet to see the light of day on the Nintendo Wii. Well, Ben Feder, CEO of Take-Two, sheds some light on this subject. Here’s his response…

Nintendo’s been a terrific partner for us. We always look at ways in which we can bring our games to platforms that make sense for our games. We’re eager to work with Nintendo to bring our games to their platforms. We just haven’t yet defined the right title for the right platform.

We’re not really told a whole lot here. I can’t imagine a reason why they wouldn’t want GTA on the Nintendo Wii. It has the largest install base of the three consoles. Only time will tell. Hang in there Wii lovers!

C.O.P. The Recruit Nintendo DS Trailer Impressions

Nintendo shows off gameplay footage from this third-person action adventure at its E3 press conference.

This morning, at its annual E3 press conference, Nintendo showed a brief trailer for Ubisoft’s recently trademarked C.O.P. The Recruit. Described as an action adventure, the game appears to incorporate third-person on-foot shooting sequences, as well as high-speed vehicles that include a police car, a monster truck, a speedboat, and presumably lots more. Most of the gameplay in the trailer took place outdoors, but protagonist Dan Miles (a plays-by-his-own-rules cop, no doubt) also appeared inside a large casino at one point.

Unlike Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, which is perhaps the most obvious game to compare C.O.P. The Recruit to, the upcoming game employs a more traditional third-person perspective. When you’re driving, one of the screens will be used to display a map of the city, which appeared to be comparable in size to Chinatown Wars’ Liberty. We look forward to bringing you more information on C.O.P. The Recruit just as soon as we can get our hands on it.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the Nintendo DS

GameSpot got one more look at Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto experience for the DS.

Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is quite possibly the most shocking entry in the famed series to date. But, if you know GTA, it isn’t for the reasons you might think. While the game offers the immersive experience you’d expect from a GTA game thanks to a meaty story, colorful cast of characters, and the Liberty City setting, the most shocking thing about the game is the fact that it’s shaped up as well as it has on the Nintendo DS. We got one last chance to take a tour of the town recently and were mightily impressed by how Rockstar Leeds has made use of the DS’s unique features.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Q&A for DS

GameSpot talks to Rockstar Leeds about bringing GTA to the DS.

Getting it Done

Check out the cool hacking and sniping mechanics in Chinatown Wars.

Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is sure to make a splash when it hits the Nintendo DS later this month. The game is arguably the most ambitious to hit Nintendo’s handheld to date, aiming to offer a genuine GTA experience on a cartridge. As insane or impossible as that might sound, our previous looks at the game have shown that Rockstar is doing just that. With the game’s release fast approaching, we reached out to Gordon Hall, president and founder of Rockstar Leeds, the developer of this impressive game, to find out how it’s come together.

GameSpot: The GTA series has a strong lineage on the PSP; why has it taken so long to bring it to the DS?
