Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues Nintendo Wii Impressions – Co-Op, New Movie Content, and Level Editor

We take an up-close look at the next Lego Indiana Jones game at E3 2009.

Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues is the sequel to the first Lego Indiana Jones, and will be a much bigger game with a lot more content. Like the first game, it’ll star a blockheaded Lego version of the globetrotting archeologist/adventurer as he explores and fights through Lego brick versions of all the exotic international locales that he’s famous for visiting. Among other things, the game will include a “retelling” of the content of every single Indiana Jones movie to date, as well as expanded co-op play and a beefier level-editing tool that will let you make fairly large levels to share with your friends. The game will also have numerous prebuilt levels as part of its story mode, though each level can also be played in Free Play mode, and in that case, the prebuilt levels may have different objectives.

Indiana Jones & The Staff of Kings Wii Video Trailers

I absolutely love Indiana Jones. I’ve seen the trilogy a million times. Well, close to it anyway.  I mean, who could you not completely idolize the whip toting, hat wearing, snake hating archaeologist? The man is a legend. Then came Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I mean yes, there was a bit of the paranormal in the trilogy, but Kingdom of the Crystal Skull took it a bit too far. Let’s just say it wasn’t classic Indy. Luckily for us LucasArts is looking to make things right with Indiana Jones and The Staff of Kings. The only thing missing is Harrison Ford’s voice. Yes, that’s a huge bummer for Indy fans such as myself. But, the rest is vintage Indy through and through. The game is set a year after The Last Crusade, or pre-Crystal Skull if you will. The menu is even setup to be an interactive version Dr. Jones’ office. All I can say is that this game looks like it’s going to be awesome. The trailers I have below are awesome as well… Enjoy!

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings Wii First Look Preview

We go back to 1939 to accompany Indy on his next archeological adventure.

The adventurous professor of archeology is back with his trusty whip and iconic fedora in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 2. We had an opportunity to visit LucasArts here in San Francisco to get a first look at the Wii version of the game to see how it was coming along. We were able to see several different areas of the game as well as gameplay sequences, which seemed to faithfully incorporate Indy’s dry sense of humor and his penchant for getting into trouble.

Watch Indy in action in this video preview.

WiiWare & Virtual Console Releases

WiiWare is getting Party Fun Pirate, a game that in all honestly looks kinda lame. I’m not trying to be a Negative Nancy or anything, but this game just doesn’t sound fun. Players take turns putting sword into a barrel, which is holding your captain, until someone gets it in the wrong hole and El Capitan goes flying, I’m assuming this is from him being stabbed. You can also substitute your Mii’s for your captain which, according to Nintendo, provides some real laughs. Party Fun Pirate can be played by up to 4 players and is available now for 500 points.

Virtual Console is being thrust into dangerous territory with, “Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure”. Ok, that may be an overly dramatic introduction but, after Pirate Fun, I thought it was necessary. I was always a fan of the Pitfall series. It reminded me of the Indiana Jones flicks. This was the one where Harry Jr. had to go and rescue is dad from Zakeula, the Lord of Evil. You cannot make this stuff up. The Sega Genesis title is a 1 player only game and will cost you 800 points.
