Pokemon is a hell of a drug. This may sound silly, but if you boil anything down to its simplest form so that it amounts to little more than advanced rock-scissors-paper, a thinly veiled plot, and the collection and training of mythical creatures, you’d have the very addictive Pokemon, which has carved a very profitable niche for itself. It’s no surprise, then, that while the formula has been tweaked and perfected over the years, other would-be contenders want to cash in on the success and get a share of the dollars. Enter Monster Racers.

We take a look at three new events and one new gameplay mode in which Sega and Nintendo characters talk to each other and help each other out. Mass hysteria!

Mario and Sonic had such a blast competing at the Summer Olympics, it seems, that they’re back for some wintery competition. During our E3 2009 demo for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, we got to see a few of the iconic events that the pair (and their respective crews) will be participating in. We also saw a new adventure-style mode that offers an interesting diversion from the sports-themed action.

We pimp our ride and hit the racetrack in Electronic Arts’ upcoming arcade racer.

MySims takes a break from furniture construction and wandolier action to hit the racetracks in MySims Racing. The bright and cheery crew gets behind the wheel in this arcade racer in which you can customize your character as well as your very own car. At first glance, this is going to seem like a Mario Kart clone, but MySims Racing does have its own unique features that set it apart from the other racers, such as customization. Like in the adventure games that came before it, you start off creating your own MySim, choosing your own hair style, eye color, voice, and now an entire wardrobe of racing gear.

Customize your vehicle so that you’ll stand out against the crowd.
