It’s been confirmed that Red Steel 2 for the Nintendo Wii is being developed for the Wii Motion Plus addon only. This means that if you don’t plan on purchasing the WMP addon, then you won’t be able to play Red Steel 2.

I really don’t know why you wouldn’t want to get WMP as it will give you one-on-one controls, meaning pinpoint accuracy during swordplay and gun weilding. All I can say is that this is a smart move on behalf of the creators.

“It’s a huge risk,” said Red Steel 2 creative director Jason Vandenberghe. “We have no idea what the penetration rate for Wii MotionPlus will be. We assume high. We would like it to be high.”

Last week Ubisoft officially announced Red Steel 2 and it came out that the game was designed with Wii Motion Plus at the forefront. That’s good to hear as the first Red Steel was quite a disappointment as the controls lacked the precision we all had hoped for. This still plagues the Nintendo Wii, but with WMP now out we can expect a more realistic gameplay experience with upcoming games that make full use of it. Ubisoft should be giving up most of the goods on Red Steel 2 at E3 next month. Until then, I highly suggest you watch the trailer… Enjoy!
