Well folks, today is the day that Sonic & The Black Knight should be hitting store shelves. The game isn’t your traditional Sonic fare. It seems to gravitate towards the next-gen type of gameplay, making it your basic action/adventure title only at Sonic speeds. It looks pretty good from what I’ve seen of it. The game is pretty enough and some of the cutscenes look very nice. Still, I will always remember Sonic as the platforming alternative to our friendly neighborhood plumbers. Sonic & The Black Knight is coming out next week so, that means the trailers are forthcoming. I was not at all a fan of Sonic & The Secret Rings, but this one looks a bit more promising. It could be that it’s set in the time of King Arthur and that fantastical period has a soft spot from my childhood. I used to love the tales of the Roundtable adventures of Gawain, Arthur and company. I also used to love Sonic games so, on paper this is a match made in heaven. Of course, games in this day and age aren’t exactly known for living up to what they can represent on paper. Either way, the latest Sonic adventure is shaping up to be a sleeper hit for Nintendo in these beginning months of 2009 that have been mostly dedicated to the hardcore title. It is slightly ironic that sandwiched between the release of Dead Rising and Mad World rests little old Sonic. Let’s hope the character we grew up with can still hold his own. I’m not sure if it’s just tricks my mind is playing on me, but it seems like there’s been a ton of Sonic and the Black Knight trailers popping up. More so than most games. I’m not complaining, but SEGA has released another trailer for Sonic and the Black Knight. (more…)

Earlier this week, WiiBlog reported on an ‘unofficial’ announcement of Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympics. You can now turn the switch to ‘official.’ SEGA has released a website, featuring a debut trailer, and has issued a press release. (more…)
