Crystal Defenders R1 & Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair Added to Wii Shop Channel

This week Nintendo is giving it’s faithful Wii owners two releases for WiiWare & Virtual Conosle. WiiWare will be getting Crystal Defenders R1, while the VC will be getting Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair.

Crystal Defenders is a game made by Square Enix that was successful on mobile platforms. In the one player title you are in charge of placing soldiers at strategic places on your map in order to keep the on-coming hordes of monsters from leaving with your crystals. There are a variety of units that all offer different attack skills. Crystal Defenders R1 is available today for 800 points.

WiiWare & Virtual Console Releases

WiiWare is getting Party Fun Pirate, a game that in all honestly looks kinda lame. I’m not trying to be a Negative Nancy or anything, but this game just doesn’t sound fun. Players take turns putting sword into a barrel, which is holding your captain, until someone gets it in the wrong hole and El Capitan goes flying, I’m assuming this is from him being stabbed. You can also substitute your Mii’s for your captain which, according to Nintendo, provides some real laughs. Party Fun Pirate can be played by up to 4 players and is available now for 500 points.

Virtual Console is being thrust into dangerous territory with, “Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure”. Ok, that may be an overly dramatic introduction but, after Pirate Fun, I thought it was necessary. I was always a fan of the Pitfall series. It reminded me of the Indiana Jones flicks. This was the one where Harry Jr. had to go and rescue is dad from Zakeula, the Lord of Evil. You cannot make this stuff up. The Sega Genesis title is a 1 player only game and will cost you 800 points.

Equilibrio for WiiWare, Uncharted Waters: New Horizons for Virtual Console

Posted under Wii Game Releases

This Monday is starting off on a great note. My Atlanta Braves beat the World Champs last night, I believe Michigan State will beat the evil Tarheels tonight, and we get a new WiiWare title as well as a VC release. Let’s just hope the week keeps up and doesn’t disappoint.

WiiWare is giving us Equilibrio, a puzzle game that can be played using the Balance Board. This game looks like the old-fashioned game they’d have at Cracker Barrel where you had to get the ball through the maze and into the hole. Using the balance board is a nice feature, other than that it doesn’t seem like anything new. The game, developed by DK-Games, can be played simultaneously by up to 4 players and is available today for 500 points. Check the trailer below.
